Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
