Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest action-packed instalment that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for celebrating action and mayhem with similar glee, all while telling engaging, socially charged stories. Little surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two producers whose projects have represented all of those things.
Show Details
Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game series, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' format by introducing a new backdrop and ensemble in subsequent series.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family always encourages me with their ongoing trust and backing.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone show. Every instalment is a take of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can change from season to season, while always exploring the essence of humanity through this multifaceted and unpredictable perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and present our mutual irreverent, daring approach to the television.”
A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
