An Australian man who jumped across a fence and grabbed actress Ariana Grande has been expelled and banned from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, aged 26, was sentenced to nine days in jail for causing a public disturbance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," Singaporean immigration authorities told news outlets.

Wen pushed beyond security and charged at the celebrity, who was attending the Asian premier for Wicked: For Good on the thirteenth of November. Co-star Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.

He has a background of interrupting performances and celebrity events, including leaping onto the platform at the pop star's Australian show in this summer.

The occurrence sparked outrage in Singapore, with many saying he of causing further distress to the star.

The celebrity has spoken of suffering from PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at her show in the UK city in May 2017 took the lives of 22 people and affected hundreds.

In the legal process, the judge was informed he had attempted to intrude on the red carpet event twice, according to regional reports.

He then made a follow-up try to breach security. Event security prevented him and pinned him down.

The man subsequently shared video clips expressing gratitude to the star for permitting his access and said he was "free."

Law enforcement took him into custody the following day and accused him with public nuisance, to which Wen pleaded guilty.

The Presiding Judge the magistrate was cited by a news outlet as stating that he was looking for publicity, adding that he was wrong to assume he would not experience repercussions.

Grande has not commented on the incident.

The co-star mentioned the situation to the press, saying that she "just wanted to ensure my colleague was protected."

"I think he didn't mean us injury, but you can't predict with such situations, and I wanted to make sure that she was OK. That was my first instinct," she commented.
