Tottenham Boss Frank Labels Vicario Booers 'Not True Real Fans'
Fulham Start Strong to Beat Tottenham and Increase Tension on Frank
Spurs fans who jeered keeper Guglielmo Vicario were told later "those individuals cannot be true Tottenham supporters" by boss Thomas Frank.
Spurs let in a pair of scores in the opening initial moments to fall 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th Premier League home loss of the year.
But the main topic of discussion was Fulham's next goal when the keeper gave away possession well beyond his box.
He ventured out to handle a high pass and took the ball near the touchline.
But, rather than kicking it into touch, the Italy international turned and tried to clear away, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was controlled by King.
The forward passed the ball off to Wales midfield player Wilson, who bent a strike into the goal from the sideline recorded at 36.6 yards.
Moments afterwards when the ball went to Vicario again, a number of Tottenham fans booed him.
The team were jeered off at the interval, with the club 2-0 down, and again at the final whistle.
One of those booing episodes truly irritated Frank.
"I heard some of our fans reportedly booed the incident and booed following, which, in my opinion is completely unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated regarding the supporters' reaction to his goalkeeper.
"Those individuals cannot be real Tottenham supporters that act that way. Alright jeering following the match, fine, but when we are in play, we are backing one another, we are with each other moving ahead."
Kenny Tete had handed Fulham a fourth-minute advantage prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Spurs in an better second period performance.
Ex- Premier League keeper Joe Hart remarked that the second goal was "totally preventable".
"I certainly appreciate the fans' frustration," the ex-keeper continued. "I know the role the keeper is performing. He's a excellent team player, he is a true leader in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your decisions.
"The keeper was heavily implicated in what turned out to be the decisive goal."
'It's In the Game, I Can Handle It'
Thomas Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario Following the Game
Italian international the keeper is in his third season with Tottenham.
He stated following the game that he had to accept the feedback.
"That score was a mistake of mine, I take accountability for that," he said.
"The intent was to clear the ball long and I just hit the ball in a bad way. That made an more difficult mountain to climb."
He said receiving jeers "is part of football".
"I am mature, what can I say?" he added. "The team can't be influenced by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do as they see fit.
"It is on us to stay more composed, to focus on our own performance. The team is missing in calmness and calmness to reverse results. This match is a bad loss and it's tough to accept."
'It Shocked Me Nobody Returned to the Line'
Despite the keeper's mistake, it was not an simple goal for Harry Wilson to score.
In fact it was the second most distant Premier League score of the season – after Adams' forty-three point three metre strike for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which interestingly also came on the same day.
The goalscorer stated he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an empty net to aim for.
Ten seconds elapsed between Vicario coming out of his area and Wilson striking – which was five seconds after the kick.
"I felt like the keeper was away from the box for ages," Wilson said.
"I was surprised not one of the defenders returned to the goal line. When not one of them defended the goal, my eyes lit up somewhat.
"[Destiny] Udogie fell as well, which allowed me a little additional time. Then it was solely about attempting to achieve the correct contact and get it on target. I felt a positive feeling, the moment it left my boot, that it was heading in."
'During in a Poor Run, All Seems to Go Against You'
Booing While We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unacceptable - Frank
Although the keeper's error dominated headlines, this was an overall bad performance for Spurs to continue their home woes.
The match was their tenth home loss of 2025 in the Premier League, a shared team record along with nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.
The side still have home games against the manager's old side Brentford and title holders the Reds to come prior to the close of the year.
Only one of those victories have occurred after the manager replaced his predecessor in the summer.
"When you're behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to climb," said the boss.
"During in a poor run, everything appears to work against you too – the opening was a redirected shot, the second is a mistake from Vic.
"The outcome leaves us in a place where we have lost an additional game. Each fixture has a unique narrative, this game we lost in the first six minutes.
"We simply need to continue striving. The later period was significantly improved and hopefully an aspect we can use to learn."
Spurs have been defeated in 4 consecutive home capital clashes for the initial time in the top division.
And they are averaging nine point five attempts and three point two shots on target per match in the Premier League – their poorest averages on file in a one season (dating back to 2003-04).
Former Cottagers midfielder Danny Murphy commented that Frank has to endure the criticism.
"He's got take the criticism," Murphy said. "He has accepted a prestigious job at a huge football club with enormous anticipation. There is pressure and duty that accompanies that.
"The performances at home have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
