Tributes Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt able to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can now articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began spending more time together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the production, remarking that he doesn't recollect "one day without laughter".
"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a different essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge agreed to bar the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order issued a security hold on the cases to prohibit the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of murder, with a official listing citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the tragedy, public figures shared divergent responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making provocative statements that were broadly criticized by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the critics last week. Speaking on his podcast, Rogan described the comments as "disturbing" and remarked they showed a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an associate should have stepped in when the impulse to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
