Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Healing from Light Wounds
Joshua had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the boxing community offered sympathy for the fighter in the wake of the devastating accident.
