The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with employing the entire amount of seized Russian assets to aid Ukraine's military campaign, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a shared declaration, the heads of state of the Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this coordinated action would heighten pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin and compel the Russian Federation to engage in negotiations.

They added that the decision would be carried out in tight collaboration with the United States.

UK sanctions have frozen in excess of £25bn of Russian assets since Russia began its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. But, until now, funds provided to Ukraine using Russian funds had exclusively been sourced from earnings and returns generated on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany were in agreement in their aim to push forward toward using the complete amount of the seized Moscow's national assets to conclude the conflict.

He added that more measures over the next period would heighten the tension on the Russian government.

This announcement comes after EU officials convened in Copenhagen recently to consider employing seized Russian assets for a €140 billion credit to Ukraine.

Recently, President Donald Trump called on Group of Seven partners to confiscate or employ seized Russian assets, based on media sources.

The worth of seized Russian holdings in the EU is estimated to be approximately €211bn.

The Russian government carried out widespread bombardments across the Ukrainian territory on that day, resulting in electricity outages in significant regions of Kyiv, the city, and eight other regions.

Additionally that day, Zelensky told the press he would urge Sir Keir to enter the Purl scheme, under which partner nations purchase arms from the America to provide to the Ukrainian forces.

While commending the United Kingdom's consistent assistance for the Ukrainian government, he noted it should indicate firmly that it would engage in the initiative, as well as impose further restrictions on Russia.
